Junior Security Control Assessor – Washington – 3 to 7 Years Experience
Job Description
TalTeam is looking for a Junior Security Control Assessor to join our team in Washington, DC (Hybrid). The ideal candidate will have a background in cybersecurity programs, security control assessments, and risk management frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Execute assessment support according to provided plans and guidance.
- Review Rules of Engagement, Security Assessment Plans, and Security Assessment Reports.
- Apply risk-based approaches for security control implementation and vulnerability remediation.
- Work closely with Government Security Program Stakeholders (CISO, ISSOs, ISSMs, SCAs).
- Ensure and improve the quality of assessment deliverables.
- Conduct local travel within the DMV area for security assessments.
- Advocate best practices to customers on behalf of client Cyber Solutions.
- Participate in thought leadership, conferences, and white paper research.
Job Requirements
• 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity programs, security testing, or security control assessments.
• Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) in an Assessor role.
• Strong knowledge of FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, and NIST SP 800-53A.
• Familiarity with Linux, Windows, Unix, legacy systems, and cloud environments.
• Willingness to obtain security certifications for professional development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally to customer locations for on-site assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with government cybersecurity programs.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or Security+ are a plus.
